Site Visits

Site visits get us out from behind a computer screen and allow us to see first-hand how a company operates in the market.
The work done during site visits is wide and varied, and depends largely on the research opportunities offered by the nature of the target business.
Common data collected include visitor count, purchase count, basket size, number of deliveries, number of staff, work procedure, available stock, pricing data, expiration data, and anything that can be observed and recorded. While most of these examples are for retail research targets, we do site visits for many kinds of companies, especially when combining them with field interviews.

Site visits also enable us to take extensive photographs and videos, giving our clients the chance to look at a business and its operations in detail that far exceeds traditional financial research methods, especially when done from remote offices outside of Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, whether they be in Singapore or outside of Southeast Asia (SEA) entirely.

When discussing areas, it is important to note that although our research is focused on SEA-based companies, we have performed site visits on manufacturing and retailing locations in countries as far away as Nigeria, Mexico, and Serbia with our extensive network of freelance market researchers, at reasonable cost to the client. Our ability to recruit, train, and monitor staff globally is something we have worked hard to achieve and gives our clients a competitive advantage over other, locally focused funds and firms.

We recommend site visits in conjunction with field interviews and for any company which has observable touch points with its customers. It is especially useful for new, less visible companies, where it helps clear the fog that is brought about by the crowded SEA marketplace. Meetings with investor relations or company executives can often add to this obscurity, with their smooth talking and prepared charts hiding the messy nature of their operations.
